A quick guide to buying kosher food in regular supermarkets.

Supermarkets
Many food items in regular supermarkets are kosher and may carry a hechsher. (OU, KLBD, MK)

UK Made Products
Food items imported from the United Kingdom may be listed on the isitikosher website at Isitkosher.uk

Bread
Bread - Irish Pride bread (bread, rolls and brioche) sold in many supermarkets is kosher and pareve. (not generally PY)

Fresh fish
Fresh Fish - Fresh and frozen kosher species of fish, either whole or filleted, are permitted provided that some skin (bearing easily detachable scales) is attached.

Rice and Pasta
Rice - Plain rice is kosher.
All plain dried (not fresh) durum wheat pasta and wheat noodles, including pasta containing egg, is permitted. Black pasta containing squid ink is not kosher. Please note this does not apply to gluten-free pasta. (however gluten-free pasta is often available with a hechsher in supermarkets and health food shops - check the isitkosher link for kosher brands)

Frozen vegetables
Plain frozen vegetables are permitted. Those vegetables which are often found infested still require careful checking.

Dried Pulses
All dried pulses and beans (eg barley, lentils, kidney beans) are permitted.

Snacks
Snacks - here is a list of kosher and pareve snacks with a hechsher easily available in supermarkets such as Tesco, Supervalu and more. Check for the hechsher on the packets as status may change.
Kettle Chips, plain.
Eat-Real lentil/hummus chips, various flavours.
Nakd bars, various flavours.
The Jelly Bean Company - Irish made jelly beans with an OU.
Many varieties of Nestle and Kellogs Cereals.
Kellogs Winders, various flavours.

MIlk and dairy products
